3D biplot viewer beta
While it is our belief that in most cases a 2D biplot is sufficient to
visualize a two-way dataset and to understand the main patterns contained in
it, it is always more desirable to look at an additional axis to make sure no important patterns
are missed.
So why 3D biplots are not used as often as it
should be? This is because it is difficult for the human mind to appreciate a
3D biplot on a 2D paper. A static 3D biplot printed on 2D paper often obscures
the pattern rather than makes it clearer.
Now "3D biplot viewer" is
available to assist you visualize your data through a 3D biplot. The
following is a snapshot of a rotating 3D biplot:

As you can see from this snapshot, the 3D
biplot viewer allows you to do the following:
- Visualize a constantly rotating 3D biplot.
This allows you to look at the biplot from all possible perspectives;
- Adjust the rotating speed;
- Stop the rotation and thereby freeze the
image when you see interesting patterns;
- Rotate any of the three axes while hold the
other two;
- Visualize all possible 2D biplots (PC1 vs
PC2, PC1 vs PC3, and PC2 vs PC3);
- Save the current view of the 3D biplot into
a graphic file, in color or in black-white, for publication purposes;
- Open and visualize any 3D data from the menu
bar.
The power of the 3D biplot viewer will be
greatest when it is coupled with the GGEbiplot software, as GGEbiplot allows
the choice among all possible multiplicative models, among three singular
value partitioning methods, and for any subset of the two-way table. It also has
many options to label your entries (subjects) and testers (variables). From a 2D-biplot of GGEbiplot to a rotating 3D biplot is just one mouse-click away.
